Global FRP Dual Laminate Tank Market Overview
FRP stand for Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics. It is a composite material of construction used to construct chemical plant equipment such as tanks and vessels. As FRP has corrosion resistance nature, a tank can be made entirely from the composite or a second liner can also be used. If the liner is made of FRP, it is resin rich and utilizes a different type of glass known as "C-Glass", while the structural portion uses "E-Glass". The tanks which are smaller than 7,500 liters are easily manufactured out of cheaper materials such as HDPE or PVC. Tanks which are larger than four meters are generally limited by shipping constraints and a concrete or steel tank is then fabricated at the tank’s location. FRP which is constructed over the liner provides the structural strength requirements to withstand design conditions such as internal pressure or vacuum, hydrostatic loads, seismic loads (including fluid sloshing), regeneration hydrostatic loads, wind loads, and even snow loads.
Fiberglass tanks are designed according to certain standards such as Bs4994-87 is the British Standard for FRP tanks and vessels superseded by EN13121, ASME RT-P-1 (Reinforced Thermostat Plastic Corrosion Resistant Equipment) is the standard for the United States under 15pisg and located partially or fully above ground and SS245:1995 Singapore Standard for sectional GRP water storage tanks. BS EN 13121 European Standard now replaces BS4994-87 which is marked now as current, obsolescent, superseded.
FRP tanks and vessels designed and manufactured as per BS4994 and are used in the chemical industry in various sectors such as chlor-alkali manufacturers, fertilizer, wood pulp and paper, metal extraction, refining, electroplating, brine, vinegar, food processing and in air pollution control equipment , municipal waste water treatment plants and water treatment plants. These tanks and vessels are used in different commercial and industrial applications such as chemical, water & wastewater, food & beverage, mining & metals, power, energy and high- purity applications.
