• In Q4 of this year, NKT will begin producing high-voltage power cables in the new extruded tower constructed at the Swedish high-voltage plant in Karlskrona. A significant component of the company's ongoing investment in its high-voltage power cable industry is the tower. Backed by a record large order backlog and an optimistic market forecast fueled by the shift to renewable energy, NKT launched a capital program in its high-voltage facilities in 2020. The addition of a new extrusion tower to the Swedish facility located in Karlskrona was a crucial aspect of the scheme. In the continuous high-voltage business investments, NKT has recently finished the construction and is beginning to manufacture the tower during Q4.
• Together with industrial clients, the Tønder factory supplies car OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. In addition to increasing production capacity and offering the ability to create extrusions with wider cross-sections, the new 12-inch, 6000-tonne extrusion press will primarily service the automobile industry. Hydro Extrusions has a network of specialist factories around Europe to cater to the automobile sector. The design of the new press at Tønder will be the same as that of the 12-inch automobile press now in use at the sister facility in Székesfehérvár, Hungary.
