May 2020: BASF SE announced that it has signed a joint agreement with Red Avenue New Materials Group that grants Red Avenue New Materials Group the license to produce and sell certified compostable aliphatic aromatic co-polyester (PBAT) according to high BASF SE quality standards. Further, Red Avenue New Materials Group will build a 60,000 metric tons PBAT plant in China, using BASF SE’s process technology, in exchange for the access to raw materials from this plant. Production will start in 2022 and supply the market of biopolymers.
February 2020: BASF SE announced that it has developed a sustainable solution for cling film used in fresh-food packaging, along with Fabbri Group. Based on BASF SE’s certified compostable ecovio, Fabbri Group produces the highly transparent stretch film Nature Fresh. Meat, sea food, fruits, and vegetables can be wrapped manually or with automatic packaging equipment.
